Blues Piano Playing
You visited a blues club and you’re now hooked. You would like to be able to play the blues on your own. But you’re stumped because, even though you know the blues when you hear it, you have no clue how to PLAY them.
You found a blues book and bought it and now you’re ready to play. Hmmmm, I wonder why you’re hesitating. In a lot of cases that ‘store bought’ music only gives you the basics and if you don’t know more than that you’re stuck.
You need to find out about the basics of the blues. A typical blues tune uses 3 basic chords. The first, fourth & fifth degrees of the scale have chords built on them. Advanced blues performers like to supplement with a 6th or flatted 7th from time to time.

If you don’t have some background in playing the blues the previous description might not assist you enough to play yourself. You need some more focused help. Someone who has been there and played it would help!

The Mississippi Delta is the origin but blues can also be found in classical music. Rock music often has strains of the blues included. There are many bands that have a ‘blusey’ sound to augment their music. People naturally love the blues sound and it has become a classic.

If you want to include a blues feel to your music you can find sites that have courses specializing in blues piano playing. Quite a few sites are available for this on the web. You can take private lessons or find a group that plays the blues and join them. Some have found what they need in an online course.
The more traditional options are the first two. With the introduction of music instruction to the internet the third option is becoming an increasingly popular option.
For those who enjoy the privacy of learning at their own leisure there are quite a few courses now available. After you learn the blues you will be able to transfer that new skill to your preferred playing environment!
