Home Sound Recording – The Easy Way

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

If your a budding songwriter and have always wondered how some musicians can produce amazing music in their bedrooms then I’m hear to tell you that it’s not as hard as you think and the time to start your Digital Home Recording journey is now.

Only twenty years ago making music at home meant spending thousands of dollars on equipment and learning to use very tricky tools with no internet for free Home Recording Techniques, luckily today’s technology means we all have a chance of making music cost effectively and hitting the big time on YouTube and MySpace.

In this post I want to show you that Home Recording Studio construction is not a big deal and if you have a bit of a flare for songs then its a great time to get started.

If you’re a newbie to home recording then hold onto your hats because this is going to be just what you looking for.

Your Going to Need Some Computing Tools – When I first built the home studio I use today, my little trick was to ask a friend who had done the same thing exactly what he spent his money on. I then put my dollars into the same thing buying Mbox with Pro Tools and which I highly recommend.. (Pro Tools will become your best friend, it’s the big brain of your studio and makes everything work!)

Don’t Spend $1000′s on Soundproofing – It’s important that you pick the right space for you home studio in terms of sound. Remember that if you’re planning on getting your crazy drummer round for a session try and take a day off work and do it during office hours. This will save on unwanted visits from the noise police…

You should take some steps to killing the sound leakage in your home studio. You could spend a lot of money turning your loft into the starship enterprise but the point of this is to get recording cheaply so take a few soundproofing steps and get going.

Get your Hands on the Right Recording Microphones – Buy a condenser microphone for your vocals and guitar. The best idea if your doing a full band recording is to hire a good set of mics just for the day, this will save you some cash and produce a much better sound.

Beat the Home Recording fear – Start recording as soon as you can. Many people plan and plan their tracks and talk about how great they’re going to be, but these people never seem to produce much music. Your first track will stink, but from that moment on you’ll be on the path to some great sounds.

Promote yourself- Facebook pages are by far the best way to promote you music these days. So unless you missed it I have just revealed the new best weapon you have in music marketing, because everyone is on Facebook and wants to stay there as much as possible.

So that’s it, some easy steps to getting started with home recording that anyone can use. Once again the main this is to get started and you’ll soon be making tracks to be proud of!
