How To Play Blues Guitar
Okay so now you know how to play guitar decently with riffs and chords. Either way you are probably wanting to expand your knowledge of guitar playing, and blues guitar strikes your interest. And why shouldn’t it, blues guitar sounds really neat. It’s a great way to tell your story or just express feelings across the fretboard. Who do you think is your favorite blues guitar player? Mine would have to be BB King or Stevie Ray Vaughn, just because I connect with their music the most. So in a nutshell, what is blues guitar anyways?
Blues guitar can be traced all they way back to slaves. It was how they played their songs back then, with just 3 simple chord progressions to tell a short story. In a nutshell, that is all that blues guitar really is, 3 chords. But most songs really aren’t that simple. A lot of Stevie’s songs have heavy guitar riffs and powerful solos, but it still keeps in the context of his songs. This essentially means he stays on a blues scale during solos to keep the music relating. There are so many other ingredients in the blues guitar pot, but in its simplest form, 3 chords is it.
So how can you start to learn how to play blues guitar? Most people initially will think about classes or a tutor, but then they realize that they can’t afford either.
