Manage Stage Fright and Stop Shaking
Stage fright is much the same anxiety as public speaking, a phobia of being humiliated in front of an audience. One of the most common anxieties we all have as performers is stage fright. Most people have to learn how to perform in front of an audience. Some people are natural performers, love the limelight and crave attention. Some of our most famous celebrities deal with stage fright all of the time. Stage fright is a problem for Barbra Streisand, for example. With help and study you can learn to manage stage fright and all of its complications.
Performing in public manifests stage fright in most people. You must learn to not think about the audience when you are performing. You must concentrate on the performance, not what someone may think about it. It is best at first to not look any audience member directly in the eye for fear of losing your place or being distracted by their demeanor. Pick a spot on the wall in the back or a light fixture and sing to that spot, no one will notice.
Begin your performance with a song that is easy for you and within your vocal range if you are a singer. A song that has difficult technique nay be impressive, but it hardly the number to put you at ease. Do the hard part when you are warmed up. In order to feel good about the performance at the start, do the proper number for the first selection, the audience will applaud and that will make you gain some much needed confidence. Small successes lead to larger ones in managing stage fright.
All of us deal with stage fright but we can learn to manage it with time and help. Failing is a fear we all face and this is why stage fright is so hard. With these tips you can manage all of your anxieties about stage fright.
