NOFX: Best Music Acts

Tags: ,

NOFX is one of the most influential and long standing independent music acts in Punk Rock history. Eric Sandin and El Hefe joined the original group from Los Angeles in the 90s comprised of Eric Melvin and Fat Mike who handle guitar and vocals to form a total circle of talent. Despite a lack of major airplay and with no significant videos, by 1994 the music group “NOFX” had a solid and enthusiastic fan base. Their 1994 LP, “Punk in Drublic”, shot to gold and was to become the biggest selling album by the band, a proud achievement considering the lack of music industry help.

This punk rock group is legendary as they have sold more than six and a half million records. Working independently, they have been able to achieve success mostly on their own terms.  Their own feature, “NOFX: Backstage Passport” was shown on Fuse TV.

NOFX produces a number of different music styles including punk, ska, reggae and hardcore to create interesting music.  They use political and socially relevant lyrics as well as satire to make their listeners more aware of the problems of the world at large.  Not surprisingly, the Sex Pistols and the Subhumans were two of their greatest influences.

They have remained fiercely leftist politically, and NOFX has stuck to their rebellious and independent attitudes. The band did not want to give up their freedom to play the music they were known for, so they declined to sign numerous high profile record deals.

NOFX album releases include:
• 1984: Maximum Rocknroll, re-released in 1992
• 1988: Liberal Animation
• 1989: S&M Airlines
• 1991: Ribbed
• 1992: White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean
• 1994: Punk in Drublic
• 1996: Heavy Petting Zoo
• 1997: So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes
• 2000: Pump Up the Valuum
• 2003: The War on Errorism
• 2006: Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing
• 2009: Coaster

To satiate their broad fan base, they have released loads of NOFX merch together with their albums, and undoubtedly the band is here to stay stretching the borders of political correctness.
