Reality Rap is regarded as the most questionable sub-genre of gangster rap music. It is due to its musical content and the meaning the artist is wanting to convey. However, listeners of reality rap considered that it has deep political meaning. The unstable grounds which gangster rap stood were seen as a the disillusionment of black youth with the results of the civil legal rights movement. The outcomes of the increasing hostile atmosphere that the new political climate had produced forced young blacks to manage a less positive reality than the individuals who struggled for equal opportunities had envisioned.

By the end of 1970s, the cultural interaction produced by the migration of racial unprivileged such as the Hispanics, Caribbean and African Americans, in South Bronx, triggered the creation of what started to be hip hop music. Many of the creative elements of rap developed in correspondence with the postwar migrations and subsequent moving racial geography of New York City. The mixing and common influences of several ethnicities delivered this brand-new music genre that has its roots in Latino breakers.

Along with this particular sound system, there was the DJ, who with his style stripped away the melody to give reggae’s deep, dark grooves throbbing popularity. DJs started to toast, or talk on microphones during their performances about their prowess as enthusiasts or DJs. Juxtaposed to the other three forms of art that collaborated to create gangster rap graffiti art, break dancing and rapping they constitute the four pillars this music genre stands on. It quickly produced during the Reagan-Bush years to the art form we now know.

Although rap were only available in postindustrial New York City, it broadened very quickly throughout the United States. The most important alternative of hip hop in the mid-1980s began in Compton, in Los Angeles, California, that became known as gangsta rap.  It started out hardcore gangster rap and proposes to reflect urban crime and the violent routines of inner-city youths. Lyrics in gangsta rap have varied from accurate reflections to fictionalized records. Even though message that they were communicating on the west coast was not one that was good at all it still fit the mold of rap in the sense that it was still a form of self expression.

Reality rap is coarse and vulgar yet they showed no sorrow for it. The idea it tries to prove was that Street Music hip hop much like all other kinds of art is commonly a representation of the atmosphere that the artist lives in. It promises that if your father wasn’t a part of your life and your mother was hooked on drugs that your reality would surely be different than that of a person who came from a better environment. Although many are not fans of this aspect of hip hop it doesn’t change the fact that this music is here now to stay. People have to deal with the belief that rap was made to allow everyone to voice their opinions no matter how crude or violent they may be.
