Singing Voice Lessons
If you have decided that you do want to pursue a career in singing you will need to eventually consider taking singing voice lessons. Whether you want compete in a realty show, go for an audition or send your sample CD to major production houses nobody will look at you unless your talent is backed by sound knowledge. It is not unusual for most bathroom singers to feel that they can compete with or are better than the contestants they see in reality shows. Regardless of how talented you are if you don’t have the sound foundation of knowledge to stand on, it will be a rough ride for you. Singing voice lessons can help you by teaching you about the various aspects of singing such as vocabulary, pitch, tone, breath control, voice range etc. So, whether you are an accomplished singer or a beginner singing voice lessons are a perfect way to hone your skills.
However, it becomes difficult for beginners to afford singing voice lessons. For many beginners the only option is to find free lessons and if you are one of them, here are a few tips to help you.
If you are serious about learning to sing you may want to join the church choir where you will get free lessons during practice. The fact that most choir leaders are accomplished singers themselves so you will be able to learn a lot from them is an added advantage. It can be safely suggested that a church choir is one of the best places to work on your singing voice. And you will be able to work on your singing while you do something for your community.
Another way is to look for vocal instructors who offer free lessons. You will have to look for local voice coaches online or in the yellow pages. Start by calling them to inquiring if they offer free lessons. If you are a beginner, this is a wonderful opportunity to get a feel for singing lessons.
The internet is by far the richest source of information for free singing voice lessons. There are many sites which offer information and free instructional videos that will help you to enhance your skills. You can also find trainers who are willing to offer free lessons online. Sites like youtube and yahoo videos also have their fair share of instructional videos which may be helpful. If the sheer volume of information confuses you, stick to a few reliable sources.
You local library may also house a collection of books and videos related to the subject.
Finally, you may also want to look at music stores that offer free singing lessons since most of them are conveniently located in malls and shopping centers. However, many shops will ask you to register with them and attend classes regularly.
