The basics of piano playing can be divided into 5 easy steps. Follow these steps and you’ll be well on the way to being skilled on the keyboards and will be in a position to tackle more advanced lessons on learn piano online.

Step 1 – Find Out Where The Notes Are

It may seem a little overpowering when you first sit at the keyboards and see all 88 black and white keys before you. Conveniently you will only have to learn 12 of these as they're in repeating patterns of twelve notes. Each group of 12 notes is one octave. If you can find a way to familiarize all of the notes of one octave then you have basically learned all the notes as they're all repeated up and back down the piano.

Step 2 -Play Some Tunes

As quickly as you have mastered where all of the notes are you can start to play some simple tunes or tunes. It is currently that you're going to begin to link the notes on the keyboard with the written notes if you are learning to read music.

Step 3 – Play With The Other Hand

You will have doubtless been playing your easy tunes with your right hand. You need to exercise both hands so they are just as pliant as one another. Play your small tunes with the the other hand as well.

Step 4 – Learn Some Straightforward Chords

You can teach yourself three or 4 of these and have the ability to play a great number of popular tunes and songs.

Step 5 – Bringing It All Together

The ultimate step is to start to unite your hands and use them both at the same time. A simple bass line in the left hand with chords in the right hand is one method of playing. Alternatively you could play the chords in the left hand and the melody in your right. What ever way you need to now have reached a fundamental level of piano playing and be ready for using more advanced intermediate material.
