Learning To Play A Musical Instrument

Many people love to learn how to play musical instruments for one reason or another.  Some love the challenge, others love to entertain and some just love to learn new things. It really doesn’t matter what your reasons are, but you are here now to learn more about playing a musical instrument.

Though there are many different instruments to choose from, there are three major musical instruments that have become the most popular to learn.

The Piano

First of all there is the piano.  It is said that one who learns the piano can learn any instrument.  I am not sure that this is a true statement but I have heard it from many people.  The piano is a string instrument that is played using keys or a keyboard.  The keys are pressed by the player and this moves a hammer inside the piano.  When the hammer moves it hits the strings inside the piano causing the strings to vibrate. This is where the sound is produced.  The piano is built in a way that the sound is amplified.  The amplification of the piano strings is loud enough to be heard in a large building.  For more information about how you too can learn how to play the piano, check out piano lessons for beginners.

The Guitar

Similar to the piano, the guitar is also a string musical instrument.  The differences between the piano and guitar a vast when it comes to appearance.  However, the concept of engineered sound between the two is not that different.Unlike the piano, the guitar is or can be a hand held instrument.  It would be very difficult to hold a piano in your hands.  With the guitar there are electric and acoustic versions of the instrument. The acoustic version and electric create sound in the same manner.  The player of the instrument presses their fingers on the strings on one end of the guitar and picks or strums the string on the other end.  The acoustic version has an echo chamber or amplified box just below the area where the strings are picked or strummed.  As the strings vibrate, the sound is transferred into the guitar giving the guitar a nice solid sound.  As for the electric version of the guitar.  The sound is transferred electronically through pick-ups installed on the guitar body below the strings.  These pick ups act as a microphone of sorts.  The pick up does exactly as the name represents. It picks up the sound caused by the vibrations and transfers the sound to a speaker. The Violin

The violin is a musical instrument that you will either love or hate.  As for myself, I believe that the sounds created by the violin are some of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard.  Now when someone is learning the violin, you can hear some very awful sounds.  However, once they have mastered using the bow this musical instrument can be used to create some of the most beautiful music. The violin is very similar to the guitar in the was that the sound is generated.  However, the violin is mostly played using a bow.  The bow is used to slide up and down the strings causing a vibration similar to the strum of a guitar except for the bow caused a steady sound as it is moved across the strings.Though the violin is a challenging musical instrument to master, it can be a very rewarding experience to learn.  If you are looking to learn more about the violin, maybe even take lessons you will want to check out How To Play Violin.
