Learning music theory is important for all dedicated musicians even if they can play instruments or sing even without knowing how to read music sheets. There is no need if you are talented right? It is true though, that one can be considered an admirable musician even without learning music theory but it is worth mentioning that doubtless, your music will be better expressed if you have the knowledge of music theory.

If you are in doubt of whether to take music theory or not, here is an analogy that might be pretty helpful in making up your mind. Apparently, not all people are meant to become writers. There are only a few people who can really write and interpret their thoughts into poetry or prose. But learning the intricacies of language such as grammar and vocabulary is a knowledge and additional tool that a writer can use to convey his thoughts and ideas more effectively. Being truly at ease with wordplay means that you know the grammar of your language first. One’s comprehension in language can truly enrich a writer’s grasp on the art of writing. But having to know the ins and outs of language and grammar does not necessarily mean that one can be a writer that easily.

Someone who likes to cook is a good. Somebody can naturally understand how ingredients work, how a combination of taste and flavors can make up a wonderful dish. But when one actually studies in a cooking school to learn the basics of cooking, a person’s natural gift for understanding flavors can be enhanced and improved. Even if matters similar to this come normally to you, a structured method to learning and cooking will make more sense for you.

As a conclusion, you have to know the rules before you can bend them to your will. It’s great if you could strum your guitar by ear, it is a talent. Steve Krenz parades this talent in his course, The award winning Learn and Master Guitar. One can become a great guitar player even without the aid of music sheets for the reason that you have the capacity of recognizing and putting notes together. But you have to learn music theory if you truly wish to master guitar playing. If you come up with your own music, then it will make sharing your music to other musicians easier because you are speaking the same language and are learned with the “grammar” or technicalities of music. Of course, it’s still a given that nothing can beat real talent, even if you know the notes like the back of your hand.

However, even if discovering the discipline that it takes to truly master music theory can’t make an artist out of a musician, it may train you how to make good music. When time comes, good music can could be inspired music. At the end, consistency and hard work will certainly pay off.

There are music classes to help you if you hope to learn and master guitar practices or just be able to understand simple music theory. There is a lot of ideas online which has already been made available by using the beauty of technology. You’ll find it should you look for it.
