USB Record Players Make The Conversion Project Fun

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Here is a simply way to convert your LPs into digital format so you can make your own CDs and MP3s. There is not need to go out and buy CDs for albums that you already have. You shouldn’t have to buy or risk pirating tracks from the Interenet if they are already on your LPs. A USB Turntable is an easy way to play your records and store them in digital format on your computer. They are no different than a regular turntable other than the ability to plug directly into your computer via the Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. The standard USB adapter that plugs right into your PC provides the turntable with power AND sends the sound to the computer.

USB record players come in various makes and models. Some even come bundled with software to help you convert the incoming signal into MP3 format for easy listening on any MP3 compatible device. If you are new to the LP to digital conversion process, then do yourself a favor and take a look at USB record players.  They will save you a huge amount of time and headaches while having fun listening to those old tracks.

This is by no means the optimal solution for getting the best possible sound reproduction. To do that you will need a number of different components. First you will need a belt driven turntable with a solid metal tonearm. Next you will need a pre-amplifier capable of filtering out electrical noise. Last but not least is a sound card for your computer with independent left and right channel inputs. The sound card recording capability should support a minimum of 16 bits at a rate of 44.1K to get you to CD quality. As these devices mature, many of these desired features may be included down the road. Given the current technology, there is not better novice solution to converting vinyl records to digital format.
