Vinyl Records Are Making A Significant Recovery

Tags: ,

MP3 pirating and selling has put an enormous hurt on the music industry in the last ten years, and CD sales have declined because of it. Analogue sound has become somewhat of a luxury today, and several people say it sounds better than digital counterparts.  Many artists would like to put their music on vinyl to get more sales, and record companies are having a hard time denying it because they sell a lot of it.

The early 90s witnessed the near death of vinyl records altogether.  Since CD sales were on the rise at that time, companies almost phased vinyl out to clear the shelves.  Vinyl records finally made a comeback when CD sales were brought to their lowest and the music industry started struggling.  Around 2005, many of the younger generation began discovering vinyl initially.  Aside from the huge popularity of MP3s, it became popular again to hear the music in its full analogue glory.  A couple years went by before this generation had adequate money to buy albums of their very own.

The volume of records sold nearly doubled by 2008.  Even Rolling Stones vinyl records  are being produced and sold, along with a quickly growing variety of vinyls from new artists.  Most vinyl buyers decide to buy in multiple formats, and it has helped the hurting music industry hugely, since they are getting more sources of income.  By 2011, the sale of vinyl close to doubled again and the manufacture of vinyl once again became a mainstay.

There are a few different types of people, each with different factors behind getting back in the vinyl craze.  Generations that were born in the baby boomer era loved the large artwork and experience of cracking open a new album.  The favorite album of vinyl hobbyists in 2010 was the time honored Beatles vinyl album Abbey Road.

Since vinyl reproduces music so well, it has become popular for people looking for the highest fidelity sound.  Because most music before the year 2000 was recorded on tape, many believe the digital conversion process gets rid of a lot of detail from the audio quality.  People state that any record can be more accurate even if the primary recording device in the recording studio was digital.  It is mainly just a preference of the user, but there are numerous people that swear by vinyl.

The return of vinyl provides an excellent alternative to downloading MP3s, and is a great thing for anyone.  The days of investing in new artists are back, now that the record industry is able to get a little bit more funds from vinyl album sales.
