Would Elvis Win A Battle Of The Bands?

Tags: , , ,

The battle of the bands has grow to be an American essential in practically every single local music scene across the nation. Several battles are determined by crowd response, and some people today argue that this is a bad system. They say that bands with a lot more fans have the advantage over other groups. Their theory is that acquiring additional friends or trying harder to bring a fan base has nothing to do with talent.

Even so, isn’t there a correlation between how hard a band works to market its self, and how hard they work on their music. Yes some groups that win a battle of the bands do have bigger fan bases, but shouldn’t we embrace that truth. If groups with out decent fan bases have very little chance of winning a battle won’t they also have a tougher time making it in the music business.

Making great music is the most critical thing an artist can do to make it in the music business. But, many talented groups never make it out of their basements. Hard work and connections is the difference between writing good songs that no one actually hears, and writing great songs that the world ends up cherishing for decades.

The fact is that the music business is a popularity contest and any person that is offended by that fact ought to really get a good look around. The groups that sell the most records, and get played the most on the radio are the groups that are most popular. Why should the battle of the bands be any different?

Making it in the music industry is hard work, but it’s not an impossible task by any means. Rockstars are self made, not born. Take a look at Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson as examples. Most people are not aware of the fact that Evlis Presley was a workaholic, and a perfectionist, or that The Beatles weren’t that good until that got a gig that required them to perform 7 days a week, 10 hours a day for months at a time. Michael Jackson’s dad had him performing before most youngsters could walk. We know this as Michael was really vocal about how hard his dad made him work every day all day long. If you desire to make it in the music business you have to work hard.  If you work hard it’s not an impossible goal as most people today claim.
